Why does red hair dye fade quicker?
It’s true red hair dye is the hardest to keep looking luscious for longer. The brighter your dye, the faster it will fade.
It’s all to do with the size of the red dye pigments – these are extra large molecules that slip and slide out of your hair with every wash.
If you’re going to be a ravishing red head, you’ll need to look after your hair and use gentle shampoos and conditioners that lock in the colour for longer.

Best red hair dyes
Garnier Olia Intense Copper Hair Dye Permanent.
Best red hair dye for: On-trend copper shimmer.
Wow. This is a gorgeously bright and vivid colour and for us, with light brown dyed hair, it came out just like the box! It’s on the side of orange-red and will no doubt become more orange as it washes out. But we love it so.
The natural glints and richness of the copper is stunning and it’s a warm, almost golden-orange that made our skin look glowing too! This is the fave of the red hair dyes for us.
How can I care for my red hair?
Red hair needs more love than almost any other colour and will fade fast if you don’t look after it.
Don’t wash your hair until at least 48 hours later and try to wash it more than once a week if you can get away with it.
When you do, make sure you wash only with a shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for coloured hair. We love these from Joico.
Joico Colour Infusem Shampoo and Conditioner
Once a week, give your hair a deep conditioning mask like this one we love from Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque.
