Which Hair Color Suits Me?

Can you have natural violet hair?

While you can’t technically have “natural” violet hair, there are a few ways to get pretty close.

If you want to go the 100% natural route, you can try using henna to tint your hair. Henna is a plant-based dye that can be used to add color to your hair. Just be sure to do a patch test first, as some people can be allergic to henna.

If you don’t mind using semi-permanent dyes, there are plenty of options available that will give you violet hair.

Can I dye my hair violet at home?

Violet is a bold color that’s easily achieved at home if you start with a light enough base.

So an important factor to consider when selecting a hair dye is your natural hair color.

If you have dark brown or black hair, then you’ll likely need to pre-lighten your hair before dying it violet.

This can be done at home with a box of bleach, but we recommend leaving it to the professionals. Once you’ve had your hair pre-lightened, you can then proceed with dying it violet.

If you have lighter brown or blonde hair, then you likely won’t need to pre-lighten your hair before dying it violet.

You can go ahead and apply the violet hair dye of your choice directly to your strands. Arctic Fox or Manic Panic are two of our faves for achieving this bright, electric hue. Just be sure to follow the instructions on the box carefully.

What is the best violet hair dye?

Not all dyes are created equal. If you have darker hair, you’re going to need a dye that is specifically formulated for dark hair.

The same goes for if you have light hair.

You don’t want to end up with uneven color or fading. Another thing to keep in mind is whether you want a temporary, semi-permanent, or permanent dye.

This will largely depend on how often you’re willing to touch up your color and how much maintenance you’re willing to put in. Here are a few of our best tried and tested.

Does violet hair fade fast?

According to most experts, purple hair will last about four weeks before it starts showing signs of major fading.

This doesn’t mean that your hair will be totally devoid of color – but it will definitely be a lot less vibrant than it was when you first dyed it.

If you’re not careful, your purple locks can start to look more like a faded bluish-purple hue after just a few weeks.

But don’t worry, there are ways to prevent your hair dye from fading too fast.

How to care for violet hair.

Once you’ve got the perfect shade, it’s important to take care of it so that it stays healthy and vibrant.

First and foremost, use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to prevent your color from fading too quickly.

You should also avoid heat styling as much as possible and use heat protectant products when you do style your hair with heat tools.

And lastly, make sure to use deep conditioning treatments once or twice a week to keep your violet locks looking their best.

Parting words.
